o take on Chris Liguori at Bellator 83

Lightweight fighter Darrell “The Saint” Horcher made a heck of an impact at his first Bellator fight — and it started with the impact his fist made on the highly-touted EJ “The Pretty Boy” Brooks’ face.
Horcher KO’ed Brooks at :21 in round one at Bellator 77, leaving the former collegiate wrestling champion unconscious in the cage for several minutes.
Earlier this week, Horcher (6-0, 1-0 Bellator) who lives in Perry County, Pa., said he hoped for an equally spectacular second fight this Friday at Bellator 83 in Atlantic City, NJ.
“You’re always hoping for it, but I’m not going to force it,” he said. “I’ll just go out there and do what I can do.”
That first fight with Bellator brought added stress — not only was it his first fight in a much larger, nationally-televised organization, but he found out at weigh-ins that his fight would be an alternate for the lightweight tournament.
On Friday, he’s faced with different challenges — the pressure of following up such a great first effort, but also the task of taking on the vastly experienced Chris “The Story” Liguori (15-9, 0-0 Bellator). Continue reading

Philly fighter Zach “Fun Size” Makovsky looks to get back on track at Bellator 83 in Atlantic City on Dec. 7 as he takes on NY’s Anthony Leone. Makovsky lost his Bellator bantamweight title to Eduardo Dantas at Bellator 65 on April 13 by arm triangle choke. Makovsky is guaranteed a spot in the next tournament, but wanted a fight sooner, because, as he says, he loves his job.

Featherweight Brylan Van Artsdalen (8-4), who hails from New Jersey and is a Daddis Fight Camps member, will make his sixth Bellator appearance at Bellator 83 on Dec. 7 in Atlantic City, when he takes on VA’s Terrell Hobbs (6-6). The event takes place at Caesar’s Atlantic City. For more information, go to Bellator’s website.

From StandfThemUp.org‘s Matt Leyshock:
Pittsburgh’s premier fighting league, Pinnacle Fighting Championships, has released our first official card and it’s a big one.
Although the event is never quite complete until fight night, we are looking at least 6 professional bouts including Mark Cherico, Justin Steave, Mike Wilkins, Adam Milstead, Anthony Durnell along with the professional debut of Cody Garbrandt. We are still working on at least one more major star and should be releasing that later, but as you can see we are putting together one of the best cards in PA history. We have brought in fighters from all over the east coast including Jon Jones’ original camp, Team Bomb Squad, and Cincinnati’s Genocide MMA.
We are considering a few more amateur spots so if you are interested in fighting on one of the best cards in the state right now, contact Dave Klick at (724) 255-3223 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting

WMMA World Tour hires UK ref Danielle Curzon as Chairman of Technical Committee.
Curzon to attend summit in January in New York to support the legalization of MMA.
The WMMA World Tour, which recently announced a worldwide six-city event schedule in 2013, has hired UK referee Danielle Curzon as its Chairman of Technical Committee and will dispatch Curzon to New York City in January to attend a summit on the legalization of Mixed Martial Arts in the state of New York.
The quest to have MMA legalized in New York — including the United States’ most populous metropolis, New York City — has been a long and arduous one for the sport’s proponents, punctuated by numerous pitfalls set by the state’s politicians.
Curzon, an Association of Boxing Commissions certified referee — who has officiated bouts in both England and the United States — hopes to add her knowledge and moral character to the growing groundswell of support for MMA at the recently-announced summit.
Behind Curzon will be her new employer, the WMMA World Tour, which carries with it global clout in the form of its sanctioning bodies, the International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles (FILA) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
“I am thrilled at my appointment and want to give 100% to my job role,” Curzon said. “Having the freedom and finance available to put all the important safety measures into place such as pre- and post-fight drug testing. … As for the summit in NY, I hope to get my rigorous safety measures across to them to make them realize that MMA can be a safe CLEAN sport and with the backing of MSI it gives us a huge opportunity.”
WMMA representative Mathew Titaley said that to his knowledge, the WMMA World Tour is the only Mixed Martial Arts organization in the world that has been sanctioned by FILA and the IOC. It was his hope that the alliance of WMMA World Tour, FILA and the IOC might bring about the legalization of MMA in New York, but that someday, MMA might become an Olympic sport. Continue reading
